More misc.

I don't know if I've mentioned this yet, but she loves to be outside. She loves standing at the bar in our front yard and just looking around. This picture shows what she does anytime someone leaves. She stands at the door and cries because she wants to go out too.

She is a crazy sleeper!

Sophia loves it when Brooklyn comes over to play. Lately she has been climbing up on Brooklyn and Brooklyn HATES it! She doesn't even like it when Sophia touches her, but when Sophia pulls herself up using Brooklyn's shirt, it drives her crazy!

I love this picture! Poor Brooklyn is so annoyed but Sophia is so oblivious about it. Hopefully someday their relationship will be mutually benificial!

The Park

The other day, we decided to go to the park with a kite, a frisbee, and a blanket. Sophia loved just sitting on the blanket watching what was going on.

I was just relieved she wasn't trying to put dirt, rocks, grass, or leaves in her mouth!

I love this picture of Rich! He is running toward us so fast and he looks so happy! I wish I could zoom this picture in so you could see the joy on his face. :)  Sadly, that was about as high as the kite would go. I think it's time for a new one.

What we've been up to since the last post...

Rich and I were able to go up skiing this spring and oh man, was it fun! We went to Rich's favorite ski resort, Deer Valley, where they only allow skiiers. It was a beautiful day and not too crowded. It was so nice to get out and enjoy the snow before it melted.

Rich is an excellent skiier. I was lucky to keep up with him. We did some super steep runs that made my legs burn... what a work out!

It's always my fear that I'll eat it right as I'm skiing under the ski lift. This has happened to me many times in the past, but this time, I was pretty lucky... all my crashes happened out of the sight of strangers.

Such a beautiful view!

Relaxing in the Stein Erickson Lodge

Sophia went through a cuddley phase. Normally she is just too busy to give us loves, but there was a phase (too short of a phase!). Here she is hugging mom.

Here she is cuddling in a blanket with mom.

This is one of the last days that she cuddled with me before going back to her normal busy self. *sniff, sniff!*
Here are just a few random pictures.

She LOVES playing with the keys. The toy plastic keys don't do it for her, she wants the real deal!

Happy Easter

I hope everyone had a great Easter! Ours was a lot of fun. Sophia and I stayed home from church because we were sick but I still dressed her up in her new Easter dress and took some pictures. She was a good sport!

Then we went over to Jeannette's (we were feeling better... but probably got everyone else sick... SO SORRY!) It was so much fun because the guys hid the Easter baskets and the kids had to find them. I was surprised at how tough some of the baskets were hidden. (I saw one kid digging in the sand box for his, and I saw a basket hung at the very top of a light pole!)

Sophia found hers!
And one more of Sophia in her Easter dress just because I took about a dozen! (And thanks to the Bowens for a really fun Easter!)

Our life lately... in pictures

Sophia loves to eat her baby food... see she's drooling for it!

This is how she looks when she watches me open the jar.

She has lately tried to squeeze herself under all types of furniture.

Sometimes she fits...

And sometimes she doesn't.

She has her first cold. This is a picture Rich took one morning when her eye was sealed shut with gunk. It just cracks me up how happy she is, regardless.

I went into her room after she'd been crying for a few minutes and this is how I found her, sound asleep.

She is becoming quite the momma's girl. She likes to be right next to me... if not on top of me.

Our friend, Kim, came to visit. Her daughter, Jane sure loved the basket... and Sophia loved watching her.

Now that the weather is warming up, we've been venturing out more often. I love walking around the capitol building. It's a nice little work out, believe it or not. Those hills are tough!

Last weekend, we borrowed Becky's backpack and went for a little hike. It was fun to get out, but SUPER muddy. I think we'll wait a little longer before we do this again.

I love this picture because this shows the daily relationship between Sophia and Rocco. She is totally amazed and is continually following him around, trying to touch him. Rocco, plays it safe, and stays away from those little hands that can grab and pull surprisingly hard!

I love this little girl SO much!

New Mexico and Sophia... Mostly Sophia

My sister, brother-in-law, and their two kids live in New Mexico in a really super small town, called Portales. (I'd never heard of it either!) So last week, my mom, Sophia, and I all went to visit. I am super glad we went to visit and it was a lot of fun seeing my family. Here are just a few photos of our trip...

Sophia's first plane ride. She did really well!

My niece, Katelynn, with a brand new baby lamb. This little guy was born the night before. So sweet!

Some more sheep and lambs. (For those of you who don't know this... I LOVE sheep! I could watch them all day. They are the dumbest animals, but maybe that's why I adore them so much!)

This lama is there to take care of the sheep... much like a sheep dog would. Interesting, huh.

Sadly I didn't take many pictures while I was there. I'm not the best picture taker... for some reason, I don't think of it unless the camera is in my hand.

Anyway, back home in SLC, Sophia had her 6 month well child appointment. She had to have 4 different shots... so sad! She is now a little over 2 feet tall (34%), weighs 15 lb 11.5 oz (31%), and is in the 49% for head circumference.

What she's up to:
* She's still not the best sleeper, but usually has 3 naps during the day and goes down for the night usually around 6:30 or 7, then wakes up 2 times to eat and then is up for the day at 7.
* She's great at holding her own bottle. She'll even hold it in one hand while the other is searching for something else to grab.
* She has a great laugh. She mostly thinks goofy sounds are the funniest.
* She is a great people watcher. She seems very curious and interested in what others are doing... especially in a big group. When we are in a group, she gets very quiet and still and just stares at people.
* Sophia is SO close to crawling. She scoots around on the floor and likes to follow Rocco around. This is a game that can last forever because Rocco is ALWAYS avoiding her.
* She is eating "solids" now. She is really good at eating whatever I shove in her mouth. I gave her peas a couple times and it doesn't look like she enjoys them at all. She looks at me with a confused expression on her face, but she still eats it.
* She likes to play in the jumper she got for Christmas. Sometimes she gets bouncing super fast and when this happens she has the biggest grin on her face.
* Ahhh, the binki... I've waiting a long time for her to like the binki. It's a life saver! I think she uses it as a toy more than anything, but it works to keep her quiet in church and she'll use when she's getting tired, but then spits it out when she's ready to fall asleep. She likes to lay on her tummy and suck on it, then throw it and scoot over to it and put it in her mouth. This keeps her occupied for awhile.
* She LOVES her bath time. It's fun to watch her play in the tub. She likes to splash and chase her toys in the water. For some reason, she likes holding onto the drain. Last night I tried to redirect her with a toy when she really wanted to play with the drain, but she's was single minded. I pulled her toward the back of the tub and she scooted toward the drain as fast as she could with a huge smile on her face while was breathing really loud and excitedly. It's the funniest thing!
* Still no sitting on her own
* When being held, she leans to one side. It's like she's trying to lay on her stomach in my arms. My mom says I was just like that as a baby.
* When she gets upset and wants me to pick her up, she refuses to scoot over to me. She'll just stare at me and cry. No amount of encouragement will make her come to me. It's pretty cute.

I sure love this little girl!
